Smoke... |
|
... has anybody found a use for this yet or wished they had had some afte a game? I've been racking my brains on how to use smoke but with the inability to move and smoke, you can't even cover an infantry advance successfully especially when all tanks and other weapons ignore smoke anyway.

The adv. rules for smoke are near useless.

Smoke is useful in a few instances. Here's an example I came up with before:

Also, if you have an armour force, you can combine this with the command unit upgrade. Added resiliency for your Command Bonus against MEA or PLA.

Yeha, kinda depends who yer fighting. Useful against PLA and MEA. As far as the westerners their helos and tanks can probably see you through a wall!

We've simply taken away the "can see through smoke" rules... We never liked them anyway.
We play a game that is based on today not future like MGP says it is supposed to be...at least thats what we do in my gaming club.

I would tend to agree with this as the illuminator of NVGs would just reflect off of the smoke anyhow.

If you are going to make all units blind, then change it to 1 ready action and make it double blind.

Just my two cents, but in today's combat environment, smoke not only blocks standard spectrum (visible) light, but also other parts of the spectrum, due to the use of chemicals in the smoke round. Modern smoke charges defeat laser/IR freq quite handily, and NVGs are useless if they are low light cams, and doubly useless if they are the more high tech thermal models.
